God's Word
Revelation
God has chosen to reveal Himself to us. To reveal means to make known. God wants us to know Him. So how does God reveal Himself to us? There are a number of ways:
1) Through His creation. Romans 1:18-20 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.1
2) Through Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 1:8-10 8So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.2
3) Through His Word (the Bible). 1 John 5:13 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.3
God's Word Is Our Life
God instructed Moses to exhort His people, the Israelites, in how they should live and follow God. This was Moses' parting words to the people he had led through the desert for 40 years. God's Word for them live and obey.
Deuteronomy 32:44-4744Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people. 45When Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, 46he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. 47They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”4 His Word, the Bible, is our very life. We should dedicate ourselves to knowing it and obeying it.
